2014 Porsche Panamera Diesel ready for Frankfurt debut

Iconic German manufacturer Porsche will be at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show to introduce the revamped Panamera Diesel, which follows in the wake of the upgraded Panamera rangethat was launched back in April at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show.

The main thing here is the arrival of new and more powerful engine in the form of a 3.0-liter V6 producing 300 horsepower (+50 hp over the previous model) and 650 Nm (+100 Nm) of peak torque, enough to push the 2014 Panamera Diesel from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6 seconds flat (8 tenths of a second faster than the model it is about to replace), reaching a top speed of 259 km/h (161 mph). Average fuel consumption is rated at 6.4 litres/100 km, and CO2 emissions to 169 g/km. Porsche says that the only aspect that still remains of the previous V6 unit are its basic engine dimensions, while transmission and chassis have also been retuned.

The new Panamera Diesel will feature the controlled rear-axle differential lock with Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV+) as standard: at low and moderate speeds, the PTV+ improves agility and steering precision, while at high speeds and when accelerating out of bends it delivers greater driving stability. As a result, the Panamera Diesel can now handle trailer loads of up to 2600 kg, meaning that it is better able to tow attachments. The car will hit the dealership in early 2014.
