Aston Martin Vanquish Volante m.y. 2014

British luxury brand Aston Martin unveils the new Vanquish Volante, new sportscar that’s meant to bring the thrill of open top motoring to the super GT class and - alongside its coupe sibling launched last autumn - sits at the top of the luxury British car maker’s sports car line-up. The model benefits from all of the technical, engineering and design advances of the recent Vanquish coupe, including the 6.0-litre V12 engine producing 573 horsepower at 6,750 rpm and 620 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm, enough to push the Volante from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.1 seconds and up to a top speed of 294 km/h (183 mph).

Remarkably, the Vanquish Volante is the first fully carbon fibre-skinned convertible in the brand’s 100-year history and comes with the stiffest Volante body structure yet created by the engineering team at Aston Martin’s global HQ in Gaydon, England. The new car’s triple-skin lightweight fabric roof takes just 14 seconds to fold and sits beneath a tonneau and decklid that have been aerodynamically tuned for optimum performance.

Styling cues such as the elegant waist, elongated side strakes and LED rear light blades are the same of its coupe conterpart and derives from the stunning One-77 model while the folding fabric roof. Some goes for the interior design and the various electronic aids and systems. Priced from £199,995 RRP in the UK; €264,995 RRP in Germany; $297,995 MSRP in the United States and $323,974 RRP in Dubai, the first deliveries of the new Aston Martin Vanquish Volante are expected to begin in the UK and Continental Europe late in 2013.

Aston Martin New Heritage Showrooms Opened

If you’ve ever fancied owning an Aston Martin from the past, the new Aston Martin New Heritage Showrooms in Newport, Pagnell might have what you’re looking for. After two years of development, the new centre has opened to the public and for the very first time classic Astons will be sold to the public directly from the manufacturer.

When the British luxury car maker moved to Gaydon in 2007, the Newport site was earmarked for the heritage showroom. The new Heritage Showroom is housed within the Olympia Building, which has served many functions over the years. It was originally an aircraft hangar, and most recently it housed the body-shop for Aston Martin’s restoration team.

Classic Aston Martins up to and including the DB7 are housed at the site along with a sale department for those with the cash to buy one. The British super car maker claims that customers who buy from the site take advantage of the “vast knowledge of the Works team and its experience in handling sales, on-going service and of course, its world-renowned restoration division.”

Aston Martin Rally to London Centenary Celebration

To celebrate 100 years of the Aston Martin brand 100 Astons will wind their way through Europe’s most amazing landscapes and along some of the continent’s best roads. The event is current taking place and is due to end tomorrow (21st July) in London, where the 100 Astons will join 1,000 more from all over the world. The distance travelled over the full five days of the event will be 1,000 miles but drivers have been able to pick up the trail from various points throughout the continent.

The trip crosses seven countries and starts from Lake Como in Italy. From there it goes on to St.Moritz in the Swiss Alps, passes Lake Constance and Stuttgart in Germany, as well as the Aston Martin Nürburgring Test Centre, before going through the Ardenne region in Belgium before reaching Château de Cocove in France where the drivers pick up the Eurotunnel.

Aston is also celebrating 100 years with Centenary Editions of their cars. The Centenary Edition Vanquish, along with special editions of the V8 Vantage, DB9 and Rapide are all available to collectors. Only 100 examples of each are being built. Each model has bespoke interiors, “a unique graduated paint finish” and each car is individually numbered.
